Amedee Lighthouse

1.Amedee Lighthouse

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 284 reviews · from $183Our pick

From Noumea, you’ll take a morning boat to Amedee Island for a glass-bottom boat ride, a 247-step lighthouse climb, swimming, optional snorkeling, and a buffet lunch with drinks and Pacific dancing. Select hotel pickup is available, but breakfast, lighthouse entry, and snorkeling gear cost extra.

“This was a great day the food entertainment location snorkelling and glass bottom boat was great. Highly recommend this tour, however be prepared that the staff speak limited English. There was only one crew member who spoke fluent English I think it would be an idea if they had him do the announcements in English over the speaker as they only did announcements in French which was confusing considering over half the tour was English speaking we had no idea where we were supposed to go or what we were supposed to do. They were all very friendly and jovial and tried hard to ensure we had a great day.”

FAMOUS Local Green Train Noumea (01h30)

2.FAMOUS Local Green Train Noumea (01h30)

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 248 reviews · from $32

Ride Noumea’s open-air green train from the cruise terminal with a live guide such as David or Julia. Over about 90 minutes, you’ll see Anse Vata Beach, Rocher à la Voile, Ouen Toro Hill, Castel Hagen, and Pacific Lagoon. The tour suits cruise passengers who want a quick city overview, though seating can feel tight.

“This train tour was fine to see a lot of the island. Because we were off a cruise ship they really crammed us into the seats to accommodate the high demand. We later went back to their table at the cruise terminal and booked another transportation service with this company to zoological park and cultural center. If we were to do it again I would skip the green train and spend a few hours at the zoological/botanical park. Loved seeing the endangered kagu birds there. There wasn't much to see at the cultural center so you can skip that.”
